Leeds United Vs. Watford, Carling Cup Second Round — my first visit to Elland Road in six years. The final score was 2-1 to Leeds, after extra time, with Snodgrass the scorer of both goals.
It was a good game, but £20 for a ticket at the early stage of this half-arsed competition is just ridiculous. I had to agree with the random man on the bus when he said “Football is no longer a working-class sport.” Obviously, he was referring to the fans and not the players — one of the main reasons why I haven’t been to watch Leeds in such a long time.
There was also a good win for Barnsley, my second team (yes, I support two football teams — shock horror!), away at Reading, in the same competition: 2-1. After going in front through Bogdanovic on the 57th min, The Reds conceded an own-goal in the 90th min, but then managed a dramatic winner in the 5th min of added time. Much needed, considering the team has already lost three games this season.
All in all, it was a good day.
And on a final note: I’ve just finished my review of The Damned United on my site, after seeing it for the first time a couple of nights ago. Take a look.
