Following news of The People’s Assembly march to Parliament Square on 21st June, I felt it necessary to outline a critique of the modern-day tactics of left wing activists. Before I do so, however, I want to first express support for the 50,000 or so people who marched against austerity on Saturday; this can only be a positive move. I find comfort in the fact that thousands of people in London alone are able to march in the centre of the capital and call for an alternative to the government’s regressive austerity measures. Indeed, I have written a number of articles on The Huffington Post and on my own blog calling for more people to get out onto the streets and demand alternatives – this is Socialism 101.
